About GIS and Google Earth
Simply put, Geographical Information Systems, or GIS, is the process by which spatial data is gathered, stored, and presented in a useful form. At Atkinson Properties, we use GIS to identify soil types, topography, vegetation, watersheds, development, zoning, land use planning, wastewater systems, and the many other variables relating to land, in order to accurately analyze land parcels. Our staff Geographer works closely with Bob in order to keep up to date with the practical applications of this rapidly expanding technology.
Many of the maps and satellite images on this website were produced using publicly available information. County and local planning departments, as well as Google Earth, are good sources of information and a great place to start your land search.
